Abraham Lincoln Brigade

The Abraham Lincoln Brigade was a group of American volunteers who traveled to Spain in the 1930s to fight against fascist forces during the Spanish Civil War. Named after President Lincoln, the brigade was formed to support the Spanish Republic and defend democracy. Comprising mostly young men and women from diverse backgrounds, they volunteered despite the U.S. government’s official neutrality. Their efforts symbolized international solidarity against tyranny, and many faced great personal risk. The brigade's actions highlighted the global fight between democracy and fascism leading up to World War II.
