Abraham Gottlieb Werner
Abraham Gottlieb Werner was a 19th-century German geologist known for his pioneering work in mineralogy and geology. He proposed that the Earth's crust is composed of layers, which helped explain the formation of rocks and minerals. Werner's ideas laid the foundation for the Neptunist theory, suggesting that rocks formed from ancient oceans. Although some of his conclusions were later refined, his systematic approach significantly advanced the understanding of Earth’s materials and processes, influencing geological science for generations.
