442nd Regimental Combat Team
The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was a U.S. Army unit formed during World War II, primarily composed of Japanese American soldiers, many of whom were Nisei (children of Japanese immigrants). Despite facing discrimination and internment, these soldiers fought bravely in Europe, earning numerous awards for heroism, including two Presidential Unit Citations. They became one of the most decorated units in American military history. The 442nd is celebrated for its contributions to the war effort and is a powerful symbol of loyalty, courage, and the combat experiences of Japanese Americans during a time of widespread prejudice.
