1971 War

The 1971 War, also known as the Bangladesh Liberation War, was a conflict between West Pakistan (present-day Pakistan) and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Tensions arose due to political and economic inequalities, leading East Pakistan's desire for independence. In March 1971, East Pakistan declared independence, prompting a brutal military crackdown by West Pakistan. This resulted in widespread atrocities and a massive refugee crisis. India intervened in December 1971 to support Bengali independence, leading to a swift victory for the Allies. The war ended with the creation of Bangladesh as an independent nation, marking a significant shift in South Asian geopolitics.
