1905 Revolution

The 1905 Revolution in Russia was a significant uprising driven by widespread dissatisfaction with the Tsarist government, poor working conditions, and urgent demands for political reform. It was sparked by defeats in the Russo-Japanese War, economic hardship, and the massacre of peaceful protesters on Bloody Sunday. Mass protests, strikes, and mutinies across the empire challenged the Tsar’s authority, leading Tsar Nicholas II to concede reforms, including the creation of a legislative assembly called the Duma. While it did not end autocratic rule, the revolution marked a major step toward political change and highlighted the need for modernization in Russia.
