1867 Fenian Rising
The 1867 Fenian Rising was an organized attempt by Irish nationalists, called Fenians, to gain independence from British rule. They believed Ireland should be free and sought to inspire rebellion through military action. The uprising involved fighting and protests, mainly aiming to seize control of parts of Ireland and encourage Irish independence. Although it was largely unsuccessful, it highlighted strong nationalist feelings and contributed to future efforts for Irish self-governance. The rising reflected long-standing Irish struggles against British dominance and the desire for sovereignty.
