1784 British–Mysore Treaty

The 1784 British–Mysore Treaty was an agreement between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Mysore, led by Tipu Sultan. After conflicts during the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, the treaty ended hostilities and established British dominance in the region. Mysore agreed to pay a large indemnity and reduce its army, while the British gained influence over Mysore’s foreign affairs and confirmed its territorial boundaries. This treaty marked a significant step in the gradual British control over South India, though full dominance was achieved later.
