Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT)
Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) is an assisted reproductive procedure where a fertilized egg (zygote) is placed directly into a woman’s fallopian tube. First, eggs are retrieved from the woman and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory to create the zygote. Instead of implanting the embryo into the uterus like in IVF, the zygote is then transferred into the fallopian tube using a thin, flexible tube. This allows fertilization to occur naturally within the body. ZIFT is typically used for couples facing fertility issues where other treatments haven't worked, offering a way to combine lab fertilization with natural fertilization inside the woman.
