zygote intrafallopian transfer
Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT) is a fertility treatment where fertilization occurs outside the body, and the resulting zygote (early embryo) is placed directly into the fallopian tube. Initially, an egg is retrieved from the woman's ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a lab. Once fertilized, the zygote is carefully inserted into the fallopian tube through a minimally invasive procedure. The goal is to allow natural progression of the pregnancy, relying on the fallopian tube to carry the embryo to the uterus. ZIFT is often used when other treatments haven't succeeded, helping women conceive naturally after fertilization starts.
