Zhang Zhung
Zhang Zhung was an ancient civilization and spiritual tradition that existed in the region around present-day western Tibet before the spread of Buddhism. It is considered the spiritual and cultural foundation of Tibetan Bon Buddhism, emphasizing practices related to alchemy, meditation, and connection with nature and spirits. Zhang Zhung's teachings aimed to harmonize mind, body, and environment, maintaining spiritual balance and well-being. Although much about its history remains scholarly based, it is recognized as a vital part of Tibet's spiritual heritage and has influenced Tibetan religious practices and worldview.
