Zedekiah
Zedekiah was the last king of Judah before the Babylonian conquest. Appointed by Nebuchadnezzar, he reigned around 597-586 BCE. His rule was marked by political instability and failed attempts to resist Babylonian dominance. Ultimately, Zedekiah’s disobedience led to Jerusalem’s destruction, the Temple's burn, and the captivation of many residents. His reign symbolizes the end of an independent Jewish kingdom, highlighting themes of leadership, warning against disobedience, and the consequences of political alliances. Zedekiah’s story is significant in biblical history as a cautionary tale about loyalty and judgment.
