Zaydi Shia Islam

Zaydi Shia Islam, also known as Zaidi, is a branch of Shia Islam primarily found in Yemen. It emphasizes a moderate approach, recognizing the leadership of Ali's descendants but allowing any qualified descendant of Hasan or Husayn to become imam. Zaydis accept a similar legal framework to Sunni Islam but differ in theological and doctrinal views, particularly regarding the qualities and leadership of imams. They traditionally combine Islamic jurisprudence with a strong emphasis on social justice and resistance against tyranny, maintaining a distinct identity within the broader Shia tradition.
