ZAPU
ZAPU, or the Zimbabwe African People's Union, is a political party in Zimbabwe founded in 1961 to advocate for the rights of the Shona people and resist colonial rule. It played a significant role in the country's fight for independence from British colonialism and minority white rule. After independence in 1980, ZAPU initially entered a coalition government but later faced political challenges and rivalry with other parties. Today, ZAPU continues to be active, advocating for democracy, social justice, and the development of Zimbabwe while addressing historical grievances and promoting national unity.
