Zapotec languages

Zapotec languages are a group of related indigenous languages spoken primarily in the Oaxaca region of Mexico. They belong to the Oto-Manguean language family and have a rich history dating back thousands of years. Each Zapotec community may speak its own distinct dialect, often with unique pronunciation and vocabulary, making them quite diverse. These languages have structured tones and complex grammatical systems, and they play a vital role in preserving cultural identity, traditions, and oral history for the Zapotec people today. Despite facing challenges from dominant languages like Spanish, efforts continue to maintain and revitalize Zapotec languages.
