ZANU

ZANU, or the Zimbabwe African National Union, was a political party founded in 1963 to fight for Zimbabwe's independence from British colonial rule. It primarily represented the interests of the Shona-speaking majority and was led by Robert Mugabe. ZANU played a significant role in Zimbabwe’s struggle for independence, which was achieved in 1980. After independence, ZANU became the dominant party in the government, working to shape the country's policies and development. Over time, it evolved into ZANU-PF, the political organization that has largely governed Zimbabwe, influencing its political landscape for decades.
