Zakat al-Mal

Zakat al-Mal is a fundamental Islamic obligation requiring Muslims who possess a certain minimum amount of wealth (called nisab) to give 2.5% of that wealth annually to those in need. It aims to purify one’s wealth, promote economic justice, and support the community. The wealth subject to zakat includes savings, investments, business inventory, and agricultural produce, but generally excludes personal necessities. It is considered both a religious duty and a means of social responsibility, helping to reduce inequality and foster solidarity among Muslims.
