Zadeh's fuzzy logic
Zadeh's fuzzy logic is a way of handling situations where concepts are not simply true or false but can be partly true or partly false. Instead of using strict yes/no categories, it assigns degrees of truth, like a dimmer switch instead of a simple on/off. This approach allows systems to better mimic human reasoning, which often involves ambiguity and uncertainty. For example, instead of classifying a day as just "hot" or "not hot," fuzzy logic recognizes varying levels of temperature. This makes it useful in controlling complex systems, such as climate control or decision-making processes, where precision and flexibility are important.
