Zachery Lystedt
Zachery Lystedt was a high school football player who suffered a serious head injury during a game. The injury highlighted the dangers of returning to play too soon after a concussion. In response, the Lystedt Law was enacted in Washington state and inspired many other states. This law requires athletes to be evaluated and cleared by a healthcare professional before returning to play after a concussion, aiming to protect young athletes from life-altering brain injuries and ensuring they recover adequately before resuming sports activities.
