Zaatari Camp (Jordan)

Zaatari Camp in Jordan is a large, official refuge for Syrian refugees who fled the conflict in Syria. Located near the Jordanian border, it opened in 2012 and is one of the world's largest refugee camps, housing over 80,000 people. The camp provides essential services like housing, healthcare, education, and food assistance. Although it is intended as a temporary solution, many residents stay long-term due to ongoing regional instability. Zaatari has developed into a semi-permanent community with schools, markets, and NGOs working to support the residents’ daily needs and rights.
