Yurt construction

Yurt construction involves creating a circular, portable dwelling with a sturdy wooden frame and fabric or felt cover. The frame typically consists of a lattice wall (called a “khana”), roof poles arranged in a circular pattern (“crown” or “malok”), and a central hub. The lattice walls are assembled and stood upright, then connected with roof poles that radiate outward and meet at a central hub, forming a conical roof. The fabric or felt cover is draped over the frame, providing insulation and weather resistance. Yurts are designed for stability, ease of assembly, and durability, making them suitable for various climates and temporary or semi-permanent use.
