Young Turkey Movement

The Young Turkey Movement was a political reform group in the early 20th century Ottoman Empire, mainly composed of young intellectuals and military officers. It emerged around 1908 with the goal of modernizing and democratizing the empire, which was facing political instability, decline, and outside pressures. The movement sought constitutional reforms, greater national self-determination, and ended the absolute monarchy. Their efforts led to the 1908 Young Turk Revolution, which restored the Ottoman constitution and limited sultan's power. Although they aimed for reform, their rule also contributed to the empire's involvement in conflicts like World War I.
