Young Italy
Young Italy was a political movement founded in 1831 by Giuseppe Garibaldi, aimed at unifying Italy into a single nation. It promoted ideas of independence, national pride, and democratic governance, encouraging Italians to resist foreign rule and unite their diverse regions. The movement used patriotism and revolutionary tactics to inspire efforts toward unification, ultimately contributing to the creation of a unified Italy in the 1860s. Young Italy played a key role in fostering national identity and revolutionary spirit among Italians during a period of fragmented states and foreign domination.
