Yothu Yindi

Yothu Yindi is an influential Australian musical group formed in 1986 that uniquely blends Indigenous Australian sounds and languages with mainstream rock and pop music. The name means "child or person" in Yolngu, one of the Aboriginal languages. They are known for their role in promoting Indigenous culture and issues through their songs, most famously "Treaty," which advocates for a formal agreement between Aboriginal Australians and the government. Their music bridges cultural divides, raising awareness and fostering understanding of Indigenous history, identity, and rights while achieving both critical and commercial success nationally and internationally.
