Yishuv

The Yishuv refers to the Jewish community in Palestine before the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. It encompasses Jewish towns, villages, and institutions that developed through immigration and settlement efforts from the late 19th century onward. The Yishuv was characterized by its social, political, and economic organization, aiming to create a self-sufficient community with cultural and religious life. It laid the groundwork for the modern State of Israel, fostering a sense of collective identity and national aspiration among Jews living in Palestine.
