Yellow Vests

The Yellow Vests, or "Gilets Jaunes," are a grassroots protest movement that began in France in 2018. Named after their signature high-visibility yellow vests, they initially protested against fuel taxes and the high cost of living. Over time, their demands expanded to include economic inequality, government policies, and social justice issues. The movement is characterized by decentralized, spontaneous demonstrations often involving blocks of ordinary citizens. While not linked to any political party, the Yellow Vests symbolize popular discontent with socioeconomic disparities and government decisions perceived as favoring the wealthy or neglecting working-class concerns.
