Yazidis
The Yazidis are a religious and ethnic minority primarily based in northern Iraq, with communities also in Syria, Turkey, and the diaspora. Their faith combines ancient Zoroastrian, Islamic, Christian, and local elements, centered on the worship of a primary figure called Melek Taus, the Peacock Angel. Historically, Yazidis have faced persecution and misrepresentation, often being targeted for their distinct beliefs. They maintain unique cultural traditions, language, and rituals. Despite hardships, Yazidis continue to practice their faith and preserve their identity, aiming for recognition and protection within diverse societies.
