Yan Great Wall

The Yan Great Wall is an ancient defensive structure built during the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) by the Yan State in northern China. Unlike the more well-known Ming Dynasty sections, it primarily consists of walls, trenches, and natural barriers constructed to protect against northern invasions. Made from materials like earth, wood, and stones, it served as a military fortification to defend the Yan State’s territory. Today, remnants of the Yan Great Wall offer insight into early Chinese engineering and warfare, reflecting the region’s historical importance in Chinese history.
