Yámana

The Yámana, also known as the Yamana or by their own name, Yákana, are an indigenous people from the southernmost regions of South America, primarily Tierra del Fuego and surrounding islands. Traditionally, they were hunter-gatherers, relying on fishing, hunting sea mammals, and gathering plant resources. Their society was organized into small groups with a deep knowledge of their environment and maritime skills. Due to European contact and colonization, their population greatly declined. Today, the Yámana continue to preserve their cultural heritage and language, contributing to the rich diversity of indigenous cultures in the region.
