Xenograft

A xenograft is a medical procedure where tissue, such as skin or organs, is transplanted from one species to another—usually from animals like pigs to humans. This technique is used in research to study diseases or to develop potential treatments. While xenografts can help advance medicine, in humans they are often experimental because the immune system typically rejects non-human tissues. Scientists are working to improve how these grafts can be safely used, often by modifying the tissues or using drugs to prevent rejection, with the goal of eventually benefiting human health.
