XDR-TB (Extensively Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis)

XDR-TB, or Extensively Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis, is a form of tuberculosis caused by bacteria that have become resistant to most of the key antibiotics used to treat the disease. This makes it much harder to treat and control compared to regular TB. Patients with XDR-TB often require longer, more complex, and more expensive treatment regimens, which may still have lower success rates. It poses a significant public health challenge because it can spread more easily if not properly managed, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, proper medication use, and infection control measures.
