Xavier Becerra (Secretary)

Xavier Becerra is an American attorney and politician serving as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) since March 2021. Before that, he served as the Attorney General of California, where he focused on issues like healthcare, civil rights, and consumer protection. Becerra has a strong background in law and public service, having also been a U.S. Representative for California. As HHS Secretary, he oversees health policy, programs, and federal health initiatives, particularly significant during the COVID-19 pandemic and in addressing public health challenges.
