WWII (World War II)

World War II (1939-1945) was a global conflict involving major powers divided into the Allies and Axis. It began when Nazi Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland, prompting Britain and France to declare war. Japan expanded across Asia, and Italy allied with Germany. The war saw widespread destruction, including the Holocaust, where millions of Jews and others were systematically persecuted. It ended with the defeat of the Axis, Germany and Japan’s surrender, leading to significant geopolitical shifts, the United Nations’ formation, and the beginning of the Cold War. It remains the deadliest conflict in human history.
