Wu Zhen

Wu Zhen (1280–1354) was a renowned Chinese painter and poet during the Yuan Dynasty. He is celebrated for his shan shui (mountain and water) landscape paintings, which emphasize natural harmony and spiritual insight. Wu Zhen's style is characterized by expressive brushwork and a focus on capturing the essence of nature rather than realistic detail. His works reflect a love for simplicity and a contemplative approach to art, embodying the scholarly ideals of his time. Wu Zhen is also considered one of the “Four Masters of the Yuan Dynasty,” making significant contributions to Chinese ink painting and literati culture.
