WPS (Women's Professional Soccer)

Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) was a league in the United States founded in 2007, dedicated to promoting and professionalizing women's soccer. It featured talented female athletes from the U.S. and internationally, providing opportunities for competition at a high level. WPS aimed to elevate women's sports and attract fans, but it faced financial challenges and ceased operations in 2012. Although short-lived, it played a crucial role in advancing women's soccer in the U.S., paving the way for future leagues like the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), which continues to develop and grow the sport today.
