wound VAC

A wound VAC, or Vacuum-Assisted Closure, is a medical device used to help wounds heal faster. It consists of a foam dressing placed over the wound, sealed with a special airtight film, connected to a vacuum pump. The pump creates gentle negative pressure, removing excess fluid, reducing swelling, and drawing the wound edges together. This environment promotes better blood flow, prevents infection, and encourages tissue growth. Wound VACs are commonly used for difficult or large wounds, especially those that do not heal well with standard treatments.
