Wound Repair and Regeneration

Wound repair and regeneration are the body's natural processes for healing injured tissue. When skin or tissues are damaged, the body activates cells to close the wound, forming new tissue. Initially, a clot forms to stop bleeding, followed by cell growth that replaces lost tissue. In some cases, the body fully restores the original tissue structure, a process called regeneration. In others, it creates scar tissue, which helps close the wound but doesn't fully restore original function. Overall, these processes help protect the body from infection and restore normal function after injury.
