Worm

A worm is a type of malicious software (malware) designed to spread automatically across computer networks without user intervention. Unlike viruses, worms do not need to attach to files or programs to propagate; they can exploit vulnerabilities in operating systems or applications to copy themselves to other devices. Once inside a system, worms can consume network bandwidth, delete or corrupt data, and sometimes create backdoors for further cyberattacks. They are a significant cybersecurity threat because of their ability to spread rapidly and cause widespread disruptions, highlighting the importance of secure systems and updated software.
