World Wars I and II were two major global conflicts in the 20th century. WWI (1914-1918) started when European nations, amid alliances and national tensions, triggered widespread fighting mainly in Europe, resulting in massive casualties. WWII (1939-1945) was ignited by unresolved issues from WWI and the rise of totalitarian regimes, leading to worldwide battles, genocide, and the Holocaust. Both wars reshaped borders, international relations, and societies, highlighting the importance of diplomacy to prevent future conflicts.
