World Trade Center (original)
The original World Trade Center refers to the twin towers in New York City, completed in the early 1970s. These iconic, 110-story buildings symbolized global commerce and connectivity, housing offices, businesses, and retail spaces. Designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, they featured innovative engineering and distinctive twin-parallel structures. On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked planes and attacked the towers, causing their collapse and resulting in a tragic loss of thousands of lives. The site has since been rebuilt with the new One World Trade Center and a memorial, symbolizing resilience and renewal.
