World Magnetic Model

The World Magnetic Model (WMM) is a scientific representation of Earth's magnetic field used for navigation and geographic positioning. It describes how Earth's magnetic poles and field strength vary across the globe. Since Earth's magnetic field constantly changes due to movements in its core, the WMM is regularly updated—about every five years—to ensure accurate compass readings and navigation systems. It helps navigation tools like GPS, aircraft, ships, and mobile devices to interpret magnetic directions accurately, serving as a crucial reference for understanding and leveraging Earth's magnetic environment.
