World Council of Indigenous Peoples
The World Council of Indigenous Peoples (WCIP) was an international organization founded in 1974 to represent and advocate for the rights of Indigenous peoples worldwide. It aimed to unify Indigenous communities, promote their cultural identity, and address issues like land rights, self-determination, and discrimination. Although it was short-lived, dissolving in the early 1980s, WCIP played a significant role in raising awareness and influencing global discussions on Indigenous rights. It served as a platform for Indigenous voices, encouraging international cooperation and recognition of their unique challenges and contributions.
