Wood pulp processing

Wood pulp processing involves converting raw wood into a slurry of fibers suitable for making paper. First, logs are chipped into small pieces and then subjected to chemical or mechanical methods to break down the wood’s structure. In chemical pulping, chemicals remove lignin (which binds fibers together) to isolate cellulose fibers. Mechanical pulping grinds the wood into fibers physically. The resulting pulp, a mixture of cellulose fibers, is cleaned, screened, and sometimes bleached to improve brightness. Finally, the pulp is rolled into sheets or used as a slurry to produce various paper products. This process transforms wood into a versatile raw material for paper manufacturing.
