Women's Royal Air Force

The Women's Royal Air Force (WRAF) was the women's branch of the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the United Kingdom, established in 1918. It allowed women to serve in various roles such as administrative, technical, and support positions, contributing to the efficiency of the RAF. Women in the WRAF operated alongside male personnel but were initially segregated by gender. The WRAF was disbanded in 1919 and reformed later, finally merging fully with the RAF in 1994. Its creation marked an important step toward gender integration and expanded opportunities for women in military service.
