Women’s rights under Taliban rule
Under Taliban rule, women’s rights are severely restricted. Women face strict limitations on their freedom, including bans on attending school beyond age nine, working outside the home, and leaving without a male guardian. They must wear full-body coverings and are often excluded from public life, healthcare, and decision-making. These policies greatly diminish women’s autonomy, safety, and access to education and economic participation, reflecting a repressive environment that denies them many fundamental rights they previously had.
