Women's Hockey Association
The Women's Hockey Association (WHA) was an organization that governed women’s ice hockey during the 1960s and 1970s. It organized leagues, coordinated competitions, and promoted the sport for women, helping to develop opportunities and standardize rules. The WHA played a key role in growing women’s hockey in North America before being replaced or integrated into other governing bodies like the NCAA or USA Hockey, which continue to oversee and develop the sport today. Its efforts laid important groundwork for the visibility and professionalism of women's ice hockey.
