Women's Army Corps (WAC)

The Women's Army Corps (WAC) was a branch of the U.S. Army created during World War II, established in 1942. It allowed women to serve in non-combat roles, providing essential support such as administration, medical care, and engineering. The WAC enabled women to contribute significantly to the war effort, challenged traditional gender roles, and paved the way for future integration of women in the military. In 1978, the WAC was officially disbanded as women became fully integrated into the regular Army, reflecting a broader shift towards gender equality in the armed forces.
