Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome is a condition where an extra electrical pathway connects the heart's upper and lower chambers, bypassing the normal conduction system. This abnormal pathway can cause the heart to beat too quickly, leading to episodes of rapid, irregular heartbeat called tachycardia. Symptoms may include palpitations, dizziness, or shortness of breath. WPW is diagnosed with an EKG and can be treated with medications, electrical cardioversion, or procedures like ablation to remove or isolate the extra pathway. While it can be serious, many individuals live normal lives with appropriate management.
