Winged Hussar uniforms
Winged Hussar uniforms were elaborate and distinctive, reflecting their elite status in 16th-17th century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth cavalry. They wore richly decorated, tight-fitting jackets with metal armor and elaborate embroidery, designed for both protection and display. Their most iconic feature was the large, feathered "wings" attached to their backs, made of wood and feather, symbolizing speed and strength. Helmets often had plumes or decorative elements, and they carried lances or sabers. The overall appearance combined practicality with impressive ornamentation, serving to intimidate enemies and instill pride within the unit.
