Wilusa (Troy)

Wilusa is an ancient city believed to be the same as Troy, famously associated with the Trojan War described in Greek mythology and Homer's epic poems. Located in what is now modern-day Turkey, Wilusa was part of the broader Hittite empire around 1200 BCE. Archaeologists have found ruins and artifacts suggesting it was a significant city with strategic importance. While direct evidence linking Wilusa to the Homeric Troy is still debated, many scholars consider Wilusa to be the historical basis for the legendary city, helping us understand the complex history and cultures of the Late Bronze Age Mediterranean region.
