Willow Garage was a robotics research company founded in 2006 that focused on developing advanced robotic technologies and tools. It aimed to make robots more accessible and useful for research, industry, and everyday life by creating open-source software platforms, such as the Robot Operating System (ROS). Their work fostered collaboration and innovation in robotics, influencing many projects and startups. Willow Garage also designed and built robotic hardware, including the PR2 robot, to demonstrate and test their ideas.
